New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives due to the untimely rains in various parts of the country, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Singh tweeted on Wednesday, “Deeply pained and anguished the by loss of precious lives due to untimely rains and thunderstorms in Rajasthan, MP, Gujarat and certain other parts of the country. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the family of each person who had lost their lives in the unseasonal rains and storms in various parts of the country. The PM also expressed his anguish over the incident. Further, the Prime Minister announced a Rs 50,000 ex-gratia for those who suffered injuries in the disaster. The entire relief amount will be taken from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
“An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to unseasonal rain and storms in MP (Madhya Pradesh), Rajasthan, Manipur and various parts of the country has been approved from the PM’s National Relief Fund. Rs 50,000 each for the injured has also been approved,” the Prime Minister Office (PMO) tweeted.
The bad weather conditions had claimed the lives of nine people in Gujarat, seven in Maharashtra, seven in Rajasthan and 16 in Madhya Pradesh, said reports on Wednesday.
