New Delhi: Baffled over Indian Air Force (IAF) strikes at biggest Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror hideouts in Balakot across Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened an emergency meeting to review the situation, Radio Pakistan reported. On the other hand, India’s Opposition leaders including Congress president Rahul Gandhi congratulated the Indian Air Force on the strike. “I salute the pilots of IAF,” Gandhi tweeted. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also hailed IAF’s bravery. “I salute the bravery of Indian Air Force pilots who have made us proud by striking terror targets in Pakistan.”

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also posted similar lines. “We salute bravery of our pilots and Air Force. We are blessed and proud of our forces. Jai Hind.”

MoS External Affairs VK Singh said,”They say they want India to bleed with a 1000 cuts. We say that each time you attack us, be certain we will get back at you, harder and stronger. Salute the brave pilots of the IAF that carried out the strikes.”

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah also appreciated the strike and said that “if true, this was not a small strike”. However, he said that he would wait for official word.

Referring the strike as ‘self-defence’, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said,”We are bombing our own territory temporarily called PoK. So no international law broken but it is in self defence.”

Notably, today’s air strike by IAF came 12 days after a suicide bomber killed 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack was claimed by the JeM.

“In an intelligence led operation in the early hours of today, India struck the biggest training camp of JeM in Balakote,” Foreign Secretary Vijay K. Gokhale told the media.

He added,”In this operation, a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jehadis who were being trained for fidayeen action were eliminated. This facility at Balakote was headed by Maulana Yusuf Azhar (alias Ustad Gauri), the brother-in-law of (JeM leader) Masood Azhar.”
