Pakistan Prime Minister’s reaction has come nearly 24 hours after Inda’s called off the proposed foreign ministry-level talks with Pakistan blaming the country for the killing of three soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The development came nearly 24 hours after it was confirmed that Sushma Swaraj would be meeting Pak Foreign Minister SM Qureshi on the sidelines of UNGA.

“The latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan-based entities and the recent release of a series of 20 postage stamps by Pakistan glorifying a terrorist and terrorism confirmed that Pakistan will not mend its ways,” said the statement by the Indian External Affairs Ministry.

The statement further said that the “deeply disturbing incidents” have exposed the evil agendas of newly-appointed PM Imran Khan. “Any conversation with Pakistan in such an environment would be meaningless,” MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

India’s decision drew flak from many from Pakistan including Qureshi. Terming the development as “unfortunate”, Qureshi said that if India is not willing for a dialogue, “Pakistan won’t act in haste either“.
