The violation was reported at around 08.30 am. Till the filing of this report, no loss of life or injury was reported from either side.

Earlier on April 2, the Indian Army had completely destroyed seven Pakistani posts across the LoC, while retaliating to cross border shelling by Pakistani troops who targeted border areas in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Officials claimed that there have been several casualties to Pakistani troops as well.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan also confirmed that three Pakistani soldiers lost their lives along the LoC in retaliatory firing by Indian forces.

As a precautionary measure, following the shelling, all schools along the borderline in Poonch and Rajouri districts were closed. Meanwhile, the people were advised to stay indoors amid the shelling by Pakistan.

The incident came a day after three persons including a Border Security Force (BSF) inspector and a five-year-old girl were killed as Pakistani troops heavily shelled forward areas along the LoC in Poonch district. In the incident, 24 others were left injured.
