New Delhi, Jan 11: Honeypreet Insan, the prime accused in Panchkula violence case, reached the Panchkula District Court on Thursday with her face covered. The court will frame charges against Honeypreet and others accused of pre-planning the violence which followed the sentencing of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in August last year.

Honeypreet has been charged under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging, or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against government) and 121-A (conspiracy to commit offences), 145 (joining or continuing in unlawful assembly) 150 (conniving with persons to join unlawful assembly), 153 (provocation with intent to cause riots) of the Indian Penal Code. 1200 Page Chargesheet

In its 1200 page chargesheet, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the August 25, 2017 violence, has accused Honeypreet and 15 others, including her close aide Sukhdeep Kaur, of masterminding the violence in which 41 people were killed and dozens of others injured. Honeypreet Has Denied Role in Violence

Honeypreet, however, has denied her role in the arson that spread to other parts of Haryana as well. “Every daughter supports her father…I went with him Have you heard me uttering a word where I instigate people? I had gone there (to CBI court) with a hope that my father will return by the evening. But when he was held guilty, I went into depression. How could I think about anything else? I was devastated,” she told reporters before being arrested on October 3, 2017.

Honeypreet had accompanied Ram Rahim Singh from the Dera headquarters at Sirsa to the special court in Panchkula on August 25. Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20-year jail term for raping two of his disciples inside the sprawling Dera headquarters in Sirsa in 2001.
