New Delhi: As the second leg of the Budget Session commences today, Opposition parties strongly raised the issue of communal riots in the national capital which claimed lives of 47 people. Besides, a demand of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation over alleged police lapses was also raised, which lead to the adjournment of both the houses till 11 AM Tuesday. Notably, the Budget Session of Parliament commenced on January 31 and continued till February 11. After a break, it again commenced on Monday (March 2) and continue till April 3, Friday. Speaking to reporters, on the eve of the budget session, the Congress, Trinamool Congress, NCP, CPI(M), CPI leaders had stated that they will give adjournment notice demanding the debate on the communal violence which resulted in 42 deaths and lapses from police machinery. “The Government has miserably failed to maintain law and order. I think there must be some sort of a nexus between the rioters and a section of police officials which resulted in gruesome killings and arson that has tarnished our image across the globe. This is a matter of serious concern for us. We will continue to raise the demand of Shah’s resignation on the floor of the House,” Congress’ leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury asserted.
