Patna, November 20: Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu today promised to take strict possible action against those who are found responsible for the derailment of Patna-Indore express near Kanpur. Suresh Prabhu also announced the exgratia compensation of Rs 3.5 lakh will be given to the kin of those killed in the accident and Rs 50 thousand for injured. The train met with an accident near Kanpur on Sunday morning claiming at least 63 lives and over 150 were reportedly injured.
Soon after the tragic accident, Suresh Prabhu tweeted and informed that senior officials were ordered to reach the spot and offer assistance. Prabhu tweeted, “Ordered Member Traffic to monitor the disaster management control room personally. He’s on job with his entire team. Ordered DG/Rail Health services and DG/RPF to proceed to the accident site to help supervise rescue and relief”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted and paid his condolence to the victims. “Prayers with those injured in the tragic train accident. I’ve spoken to @sureshpprabhu, who is personally monitoring the situation closely,” PM Modi tweeted.
Suresh Prabhu also said that an enquiry team will start its investigation for cause of accident immediately. “All necessary assistance provided to the affected, are taken care by the government,” Prabhu said who is closely monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also spoken to Suresh Prabhu on the phone and had enquired about the incident. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also took the cognizance of the case and ordered the DGP to personally monitor relief operation.
