New Delhi, April 26:  Patparganj Assembly constituency falls in the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) which go to polls on April 23 in MCD Elections 2017.  This constituency has 4 wards namely Mandawali (Ward 9), Vinod Nagar (Ward 10), Mayur Vihar Phase-2 (Ward 11), Patparganj (Ward 12). This year the main battle in the Delhi municipal election is between Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Congress. Besides them, there are many others contesting in the MCD elections namely AIMIM, Janata Dal.

The areas under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation lies in the lowland area of Yamuna river. Karawal Nagar, Khajoori Khas, Mustafabad, Ghonda and Bhajanpura consists of many unauthorised colonies which emerged as the strong voter base for Aam Aadmi Party. The ruling party has promised the regularisation of unauthorised colonies along with enhancing the education and health infrastructure within colonies.

The party has also promised the exemption of house tax which may have an impact on the residents of the upscale areas like Mayur Vihar Phase I, Mayur Vihar Phase-II and I.P extension. The party is expecting a better performance in Muslim dominated areas like Babarpur, Janta Colony, Seelampur and Welcome colony. Aam Aadmi Party fared well in the Babarpur constituency which is represented by Gopal Rai, Transport Minister in the Delhi Government.
