New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday took to Twitter to announce a new drive, ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ that would begin on September 15. To wind up on October 2, the movement would be an opportunity for all of us to pay a befitting tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. He said, “On October 2, we mark the start of Gandhi Ji’s 150th birth anniversary. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Kohima, crores of Indians would be participating in the movement, said PM Modi. He exhorted fellow Indians to join the movement on September 15 at 9.30AM. On the occasion, PM Modi would also be interacting with those who have worked to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission after which Swachhata activities will begin. He said there was still time for people to plan which areas they would clean and how to go about it.

Earlier also, on many occasions, PM Modi has stressed how the Swachh Bharat Mission has benefitted people. “The Swachh Bharat Mission is playing a central role in creating a healthy India,” he was quoted as having said at an interaction with beneficiaries of various healthcare schemes. Meanwhile, for the second consecutive year, Indore in Madhya Pradesh has been declared as the cleanest city under the Swachh Survekshan 2018. It is followed by Bhopal and Chandigarh. Minister of State for Housing Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday announced the results of Swachh Survekshan 2018. The survey aims to estimate levels of cleanliness across cities in the country.
