Ahmedabad, Dec 12: Congress leader Alpesh Thakor on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi eats imported mushrooms from Taiwan to get fairer. Addressing a meeting on the last day of campaigning in poll-bound Gujarat, Thakor said that PM Modi has turned fairer only after consuming mushrooms worth Rs 4 Lakh per day. He added one mushroom costs Rs 80,000 and PM eats five mushrooms per day.
“Modi Ji eats mushrooms from Taiwan, one mushroom costs Rs 80,000 and he eats 5 mushrooms a day. He was dark like me but he became fair because of imported mushrooms,” ANI quoted Thakor as saying.

Thakore is said to be part of the Trinity, along with Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani and Patidar leader Hardik Patel, who may turn Gujarat elections in the favour of Congress. Thakore, an OBC leader, had joined the Congress in October.
Thakor, convenor of the Gujarat OBC Ekta Manch and leader of the local Thakore Sena, has a strong appeal among backward classes, having worked actively on drug de-addiction in the state. Apart from this, Thakore also alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party has ignored the interests of OBCs.
Today was the last day of campaigning in the poll-bound state, before the second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections 2017. The first phase of polling for 89 seats took place on December 9 and recorded a voter turnout of 68 percent. Remaining 93 seats will go to poll on December 14. The result of the election will be declared on December 18 along with that of Himachal Pradesh.
