New Delhi: Russia has decorated Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Order of St Andrew the Apostle, reported ANI on Friday.

“On April 12, Narendra Modi was decorated with the Order of St Andrew the Apostle for exceptional services in promoting special & privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India, and friendly relations between the Russian and Indian peoples,” a tweet by the Russian embassy in India read.
Later, reacting to the honour he had received, PM Modi tweeted, “Honoured to receive this prestigious award. I thank President Putin and the people of Russia. Foundations of India-Russia friendship are deep & the future of our partnership is bright. Extensive cooperation between our nations has led to extraordinary outcomes for our citizens.”
Crediting Russia President Vladimir Putin for his contribution towards strengthening the bilateral ties, PM Modi wrote, “President Putin remains a source of great strength for the India-Russia friendship. Under his visionary leadership, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between our nations has scaled new heights.”
Only last week, the Prime Minister had been awarded the highest civilian award of United Arab Emirates (UAE) for boosting India-UAE ties. In a tweet, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the PM had been awarded the Zayed Medal.
He tweeted, “We have historical and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these relations a big boost. In appreciation of his efforts, the UAE President grants him the Zayed Medal.”
Only last year, PM Modi was honoured with Seoul Peace Prize for his contribution to world peace through his economic vision. He became the 14th recipient of this coveted award.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “The Seoul Peace Prize Committee has decided to confer the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in recognition of his dedication to improving international cooperation, raising global economic growth, accelerating the Human Development of the people of India by fostering economic growth in the world’s fastest-growing large economy and furthering the development of democracy through anti-corruption and social integration efforts.”
