Prime Minister Narendra Modi talking stern on the Indigo crisis, has emphasised the need to ‘ensure rules and regulations improve governance and do not force hardship on Indian citizens’, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday.

According to sources at TOI, the government is extremely upset and is considering reducing IndiGo’s schedule further, first by 5 per cent, and then another 5 per cent if needed. Other actions are also being examined after the large number of cancellations caused major travel problems.

Amid the huge inconvenience caused to passengers due to the cancellation and delay of hundreds of IndiGo Airlines flights across the country, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has responded on this matter. He said that a detailed investigation will be conducted in collaboration with four DGCA officials. Strict action will be taken on that basis.

Regarding the ongoing disruption in IndiGo flights, Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said, “For the last three days, we have been continuously working on this issue. Discussions were held with IndiGo, airport operators and all stakeholders. Our entire focus has been on ensuring that passengers at the airport and those traveling face minimum inconvenience.”
