New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Anand Sharma on Sunday said that he has mastered the art of speaking “untruths, half-truths, and misleading people”. Speaking to news agency ANI, Sharma claimed that the Congress party will defeat and throw out the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls.

“We are confident of defeating and throwing out this government. When it comes to Modi ji, he must remember that the very foundation of his government is on lies. PM and his ministers have mastered the art of speaking untruths and half-truths, misleading people,” Anand Sharma said.

Anand Sharma’s remarks have come hours after PM Modi scoffed at opposition efforts to forge a Mahagathbandhan in the BJP National Executive meet saying it is nothing but their compulsion and a vindication of the BJP-led governments’ success. He also said that the opposition has a corrupt intent, no leader and no policy.

Briefing the media after the two-day BJP National executive meeting, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said PM Modi used three words to describe the Mahagathbandhan — netritva ka pata nahi, neeti aspashth, neeyat brasht. Further attacking the opposition, PM Modi said that those who could not stand each other have now been forced to embrace which is BJP’s achievement.

“Today, there is a discussion about Mahagathbandhan. People who do not see eye to eye, who cannot walk together, who have no political or ideological understanding, who can’t even tolerate each other are thinking of forging a Mahagathbandhan and embracing each other. It is the biggest vindication of our success,” Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted PM Modi as saying.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party does not see a challenge anywhere. The opposition parties had failed to deliver when they were in power and now in their present role,” PM Modi claimed.
