Patna, Nov 1: Ahead of the fifth and final phase of elections in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made fresh promises to the electorates in order to secure their trust. Proposing a solution to the rampant unemployment in the state, Modi promised that rail locomotive factory would be set up in various parts of Bihar to prevent the mass exodus of labour force. Apart from creating jobs, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s star campaigner assured that electricity would reach to more than 4000 pending villages if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comes to power.
Addressing a rally in Katihar, Modi said, “We’ve decided to develop rail locomotive factories in Bihar to generate more employment opportunity, tenders for same will be open soon.” The lack of employment opportunities in the region, especially for unskilled labour is diminishing in the state due to lack of infrastructure. Although, chief minister Nitish Kumar succeeded on various social index, he failed to create jobs for the people of Bihar who are forced to leave the state. “The skill of Bihari population made the British to export labour workforce from the state to Mauritius. When my people from Bihar can develop Mauritius, don’t they have the potential to develop Madhepura as well?”
Modi criticised his political opponents of failing to develop the region in the state despite ruling the state since independence. “Congress has ruled for 35 years. Nitish and Lalu have ruled for 25 years combined. Yet, the state has remained underdeveloped,” he added. “Nitish ji failed to provide electricity despite promising it. I have promised myself that I will not rest till 4000 pending villages are not provided electricity.”
