Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the Kumbh in Prayagraj and took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam. The PM thereafter tweeted his enriching experience and said, “Had the good fortune of taking a holy dip at the Kumbh. Prayed for the well being of 130 crore Indians.”
PM Modi interact with sanitation employees and even honoured them. Addressing the gathering at the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar event, organised by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, PM Modi lauded the steps taken by Safaikarmcharis and how Prayagraj’s cleanliness has inspired the entire country. He also distributed the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar awards to ‘Safai karmacharis’ (sanitation employees), ‘swachhagrahis’, police personnel and ‘naviks’ (boatmen). The PM also made the digital announcement of Swachh Seva Samman Benefits package.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi launched the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), the income-transfer scheme, at a farmers’ rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district. This cash-transfer scheme is targeted mainly at small and marginal farmers.
The scheme which was announced in the interim budget 2019-20, was launched from the Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) ground by pressing a button. An electronic transfer of the first instalment of Rs 2,000 to nearly 1 crore farmers were made. PM Modi then announced that under the scheme, Rs 6,000 will be given per year to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding or ownership of up to two hectares.
According to the statement released by the government, “The PM-KISAN scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of small and marginal farmers in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle. This would also protect them from falling in the clutches of moneylenders for meeting such expenses and ensure their continuance in farming activities.”
PM Modi had earlier tweeted, “Tomorrow’s launch of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi demonstrates two things: NDA’s unwavering commitment to farmer welfare. Speedy decision making- a scheme announced on 1st February has become a reality in such a short span. This is the new work culture of New India!”
