New Delhi, March 12: After jointly inaugurating a solar power plant with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron at Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi unveiling a slew of schemes.
Apart from flagging off Patna-Maduadih Intercity Express, PM Modi also distributed gas connections among the people under Ujjwala Scheme. Addressing a public gathering, PM Modi thanked people of Varanasi for giving him an opportunity to inaugurate projects for the benefit of general public.
“It’s my luck that I have got an opportunity to inaugurate several schemes which will benefit the people of Varanasi,” PM Modi said.
Showering praise on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was also present on the stage, PM Modi said the state has witnessed massive development since the BJP government came to power.
“I would like to appreciate the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath-led UP Government in the housing sector and to ensure that more people get access to housing facilities,” PM Modi said adding that the government aims to provide homes to eight lakh families.
Earlier in the day, French President Emanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a boat ride in the Ganga near Varanasi’s famous Assi Ghat. The two leaders were seen engaged in a discussion on the flower-decked double-decker vessel.
Modi, who 2014 Lok Sabha election from Varanasi, briefed Macron about the history and significance of various ghats along the Ganga.
