Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday will visit Kumbh Mela 2019 at Prayagraj. He is scheduled to reach at 3.15 PM and will be there till 5 PM. At Triveni Sangam, PM Modi will take a ‘snaan’. He will also interact with Safai Karmacharis at Prayagraj and distribute the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar awards to them along with Swachhagrahis, Police Personnel and Naviks. PM Narendra Modi will earlier in the day formally launch the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from Gorakhpur. Under the scheme, the central government will on the same day make the first instalment of Rs 2,000 in the bank account of about 1 crore beneficiary farmers on Sunday, news agency ANI reported.
The agency also stated that nearly 25 million farmers are expected to get the first instalment in the account by March 31. In this regard, the central government had already written a letter to all state governments asking for details of farmers falling under the ambit of this scheme. States like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have shown an active interest in sending the list.
The central government had announced this new scheme in the agriculture sector during the presentation of the Interim Budget 2019 on February 1. Titled ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)’, the scheme will entail payment of Rs 6,000 annually to each of the 12 crore marginal farmers in the country and will involve an annual outlay of Rs 75,000 crore.
