PM Narendra Modi's Popularity Declining, he Barely Managed to Escape Loss in Gujarat, Says BSP Chief Mayawati

New Delhi, Jan 15: Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday said the results of Gujarat Assembly elections show that his popularity has declined even in his home state. Addressing a press conference on her birthday, Mayawati also mocked Bharatiya Janata Party‘s much-publicised slogan ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’.

Mayawati said, “Har har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’ wale Narendra Modi Ji is baar Gujarat mein beghar hote hote bache (Narendra Modi barely managed to protect his home state Gujarat).

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP as well as the Congress, the former Uttar Pradesh CM said both the parties have worked to foment inter-caste tensions for political gains. “Azaadi ke baad se Congress aur ab BJP ne har varg ko nuksaan pahunchaya hai. Aaj har rajya mein sampradayik aur jaatiwadi mahaul banaya ja raha hai,” (After independence, both the Congress and BJP  have harmed every class of the society. They are trying to vitiate the atmosphere across the country by dividing the people on caste, communal lines.)

Slamming the saffron party, Mayawati said it was trying to save culprits of violence in Pune’s Bhima Koregaon. “Non-acceptance of holding a discussion on Bhima-Koregaon incident in the Rajya Sabha (as demanded by the BSP), shows the casteist attitude of the both the Centre and Maharashtra government,” Mayawati said.
