New Delhi, April 10: A 35-year-old anthropologist Atreyee Majumder is been missing for five days, April 4and her parents, friends, and police are clueless about her whereabouts. The family members are searching for her.
Majumder, a resident of Bellandur in Bengaluru, had arrived in Bengaluru from Toronto on April 4. She is an alumnus of National Law School in Bengaluru and has also studied at Yale University. She was pursuing a post-doctoral research with a fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in Toronto.
According to police, Majunder stayed at Novotel hotel in Marthahalli on the night of her disappearance and then at Marriot hotel in Bellanduru on April 5. It is confirmed from CCTV footage which shows she checked out on April 6 and that time she was alone. When she left her house she was not carrying a phone.
Missing woman parents informed that on April 3, Atreyee had gone incommunicado in Toronto and did not respond to our calls. The next day, April 4, she informed us that she had landed in New Delhi. We asked her to fly to Bengaluru. She reached Bengaluru on April 4 and we received her at the airport and drove her home at 4:30 pm.
Her father further informed that after returning she went to her room and slept. And after few hours at around 9 pm, she went out with her purse in hand. And after that she is unreachable.
Atreyee’s pictures have been shared on social media. Her friends and colleagues are also distributing pamphlets and even asking nearby hospitals just to get any information about her. Her family members are making all attempt to know about her whereabouts. Police are also investigating her sudden disappearance.
