New Delhi: Before the party’s upcoming ‘Jan Aakansha Rally’ scheduled on February 3, local Congress workers in Bihar’s Patna put up posters depicting Rahul Gandhi as ‘Lord Ram’ across the capital city. Besides Rahul, the poster also features top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, newly-appointed party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and others.

“He (Rahul Gandhi) has all the qualities of Lord Ram and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is only doing politics in the name of Lord Ram,” said 67-year-old Congress workers Vijay Kumar, who allegedly put the poster.

Reacting to the posters,  the BJP asked Congress about its stand on transferring non-disputed land in Ayodhya to the trust (which was formed to promote and oversee the construction of Ram Mandir).“What is your (the Congress) stand on the petition of the central government submitted before the Supreme Court today?” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked.

“This is the Congress’ poster in Patna. Sycophancy is the supreme conduct for Congressmen. Initially refute the existence of Lord Ram then dress Rahul like Shri Ram. Good that (you) became Shri Ram. Now tell this Congress people, what is your stand on Centre’s plea to SC on Ayodhya tangle?”, Patra tweeted along with the poster.

In September 2018, posters portraying Congress president as ‘Shiv Bhakt Rahul Gandhi’ were seen in Bhopal when he was scheduled to begin his party’s campaign for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.
