New Delhi, Jan 25: On the eve of 68th Republic day, President of India President of India, Pranab Mukherjee will address the nation today. Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on Thursday, the President’s address will be broadcasted from 7 pm on the national network on Wednesday. India gears up to celebrate its 68th Republic Day on Thursday. The preparation for the Republic Day celebrations is in full swing. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi is the Chief Guest for the 68th Republic Day celebrations this year. All the dignitaries, including the Crown Prince, President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be seated on the dais and will grace the Republic day celebrations with their presence. In wake of the Republic day celebrations, security has been tightened in the national capital. Huge deployment of armed forces can be seen at strategic points to maintain law and order in the state. As per recent update, over 50,000 security personnel from Delhi Police and central security forces have been deployed to maintain vigil during the Republic Day celebrations.

As per reports by PTI, an advisory given to the agencies state, “it is imperative for the security forces to be familiar with the range of threats for devising appropriate counter means as the use of conventional weapons by the terrorist and criminal groups is a part of a process to develop new techniques and tactics.”
