The event at the national stadium in capital city is organized to cheer for the largest ever contingent of Indian athletes at Olympics, this year being held in Brazil. The objective of the run is to not only demonstrate to our athletes that the whole country is proud of them and wishing them all the best in the forthcoming Rio Olympics, but also to connect public at large, especially children and youth, with the Olympic spirit and power of sports,” Sports Minister Vijay Goel said in the statement.
Goel, who is personally supervising the event also said that huge screens will be set up below the national flag at Central Park in Delhi and also cut-outs and posters of Olympians will be put in exbhition.
