New Delhi: Four female Kashmiri-origin students were suspended from a private institute in Jaipur for allegedly hailing the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel. The second-year students of the National Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) students had allegedly glorified the deadly attack by posting ‘anti-national’ picture on Whatsapp. The picture soon went viral, prompting the university administration to take action.
“You have posted an anti-national message on your WhatsApp for celebrating killing of Pulwama terrorist attack martyrs. The university will not tolerate and strictly condemns such activities. The act is grave and serious in nature,” NIMS registrar said in the suspension order. (Check Live Updates Here)
Later, the four suspended girls were also booked by police following a complaint by the university administration.
“The students were booked under relevant provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act. Senior officials are investigating the matter and appropriate action will be taken thereafter”, SP (Rural) Harendra Kumar told news agency PTI.
A similar action was taken against a Kashmiri student in Bengaluru after he allegedly hailed Jaish terrorist for carrying out the Pulwama attack. The student identified as 23-year-old Tahir Latif belongs to Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Latif put up a screen-shot of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Adil Ahmed and the bodies of the slain soldiers as his display picture on WhatsApp. Besides, he had also put a WhatsApp status which read,”A big salute to this brave man!!! May Allah accept your Shahadat and give you highest place in Jannah #Shaheed Adil Bhai.”
Earlier the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) had suspended a Kashmiri student Basim Hilal, after he allegedly hailed the Pulwama attack. Hilal on his tweet had showered praise on the Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) which had claimed responsibility for the attack. “High on JAISH (e Mohammad),” the student had tweeted, soon after the deadly incident.
“Kashmir-origin undergraduate student Basim Hilal, suspended from the university after an objectionable tweet following the Pulwama outrage, is no longer at the campus. An FIR was lodged at the Civil Lines police station against Hilal on Friday after the post went viral on social media,” AMU Proctor Professor Mohsin Khan had said.
Yesterday, the Uttar Pradesh police had booked a man in Ballia for allegedly supporting the Pulwama attack and arrested a person in Mau district for purportedly making objectionable remarks in connection with the deadly incident.
On Thursday, 40 CRPF personnel were killed and five injured in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir when a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus.
