Srinagar, July 4: It has been over 23 hours since the encounter between security forces and terrorists is on in Pulwama’s Bamnoo in Jammu and Kashmir. While two terrorists were gunned down on Monday, the body of a third terrorist was also recovered on Tuesday. One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Kifayat. Meanwhile, five security personnel were injured in the encounter on Monday.
While firing has stopped, search operations continue after the recovery of the third terrorist’s body on the area. One AK- 47 and one INSAS rifle have been recovered. At least 10 protesters have also been reportedly injured after locals clashes with the security forces and near the encounter site. Security forces also began cordon and search operation in Bandipora’s Ajas area after terrorists have been suspected to be trapped in the area.
Earlier on Sunday night, the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had also carried out cordon and search operations in Pulwama’s Malangpora after terrorists were suspected to be have been hiding in the area. However, reports say that the locals clashed with security forces and pelted stones, following which the terrorists reportedly managed to escape. Two of the terrorists were reportedly identified as Hizbul Mujahideen top commander Reyaz Naikoo and his aide Saifulla Mir.
Earlier this month, a civilian was killed and 12 others were injured as clashes broke out between the security forces and the locals in the Pulwama just a few hours after three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter. The Pulwama region is believed to have a large presence of local terrorists aided with a strong network of over ground workers, say reports.
Earlier on Monday, a policeman was also severely injured after terrorists attacked a police party near a bus stand in Anantnag.
