Surat: A businessman from Surat cancelled his daughter’s wedding feast and donated Rs 11 lakh to the families of martyrs of Pulwama terror attack, said reports on Saturday. Dewashi Manek also gave away Rs 5 lakh to service agencies.

Manek’s daughter Ami got married on February 15 and the wedding feast was due on Saturday. Instead of spending on the feast, Manek chose to give that money to families of the 40 jawans who lost their lives in the attack.

Early on Saturday, an all-party meeting was convened which passed a resolution condemning all terrorist activities. The Congress said it extended its support to the Centre in the fight against terrorism.

The Shiv Sena said such resolutions were passed after Pathankot and Uri attacks also and now it was time to act.

On its part, the Government has said that it had given a free hand to the security forces. Speaking in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, PM Modi said the guilty would not go unpunished.

Meanwhile, the family of suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar said he was humiliated by the troops years ago, while he was still in school, and that may have led to his resentment.
