Jalandhar, June 14:  A six-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after his father dropped him on red-hot coals during a Hindu religious ritual in Jalandhar. The father was walking barefoot with his son in his arms when the he lost balance and and fell on the coals during the ritual. The child who was in his arms also fell on the coals. Onlookers quickly rushed to the rushed and took Kartik to hospital. The child was admitted in emergency ward of the hospital. The father sustained 15 per cent burns.Doctors of the hospital said that it will have five to seven days for the child for his wounds to heal and recover completely. Around 600 devotees had gathered in Jalandhar city in northern Punjab state for a festival in honour of the Goddess Maa Maariamma. Devotees fast for seven days and prepare themselves for the ritual.
