Bhatinda, April 20: In a shocking incident, a man chopped off the limbs of a teenager who raped his seven months old daughter, on Tuesday. The man was reported to have left the rapist bleeding near a canal close to the Jhumba village in Bhatinda. The 17-year old had been accused of raping the toddler in April 2014. Both the father and the rapist hailed from Muktsa’s Kotli Ablu village, and on Tuesday, the rape case was scheduled for hearing at the Rama Mandi village courts.

According to a report in The Indian Express, after the hearing the father reportedly settled for a compromise and offered to drop the accused home on his motorbike. The incident happened during the ride back to the village together, when the man stopped near the canal and tied the teenager to a tree. He then proceeded to hack both his hands off, said the police. “A few villagers heard the juvenile’s cries and ran towards the canal. They found the victim bleeding profusely… the father had fled by then,” SSP of Bathinda, Swapan Sharma, was quoted as saying by Express. The teenager has been admitted to Bhatinda Civil Hospital and his condition has been reported as being critical. Meanwhile, the police are conducting raids to nab the father and book him under attempt to murder charges. The teenager had been caught red handed by the baby’s mother in 2014 and an FIR had been registered against him.
