Punjab: Youth Congress Leader Commits Suicide After Killing Grandmother
Hari Chand, his grandfather, had died of cancer on Sunday. Harmesh was reportedly in depression after his death. He allegedly took his grandmother to a room and killed her from point-blank range. He then shot himself from his licensed guns.
Barnala, Jan 15: A Youth Congress leader shot dead his grandmother before committing suicide in Punjab’s Barnala district. The 25-year-old man, Harmesh Mittal, committed the crime after he was unable to cope with the death of his grandmother, who died on Sunday.
Mittal’s father had died days before he was born and his mother had lived with her parents. He was raised by his grandparents. He had a furniture showroom at Kacha College Road, reported TOI.
He was the general secretary of Barnala district of Youth Congress. District president Makhan Sharma said that the deceased could not handle his grandfather’s death.
