Voting on 354 Zila Parishad seats in 22 districts of Punjab was held on September 19 through ballot paper. Following reports of rigging and violence from several districts during voting for Punjab Zila Parishad Elections, the State Election Commission ordered repolling in eight districts. Repolling was held in 28 polling booths in Amritsar, Moga and Bhatinda, among others. A tough contest is to be witnessed between the ruling Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) coalition and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). To ensure a fair counting process, elaborate security arrangements have been made by administration in 22 districts where Punjab Zila Parishad Elections were held. While 11 counting centres have been set up in Jalandhar, four have been set up in Kapurthala district. On the other hand, five and 10 vote counting centres have been set up in Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur, respectively. In some districts, the entire process of counting of votes for Punjab Zila Parishad Election Results 2018 will be video-graphed in a bid to ensure transparency. Furthermore, heavy security has been deployed across 22 districts of Punjab where Zila Parishad elections were held.

The counting of votes for Punjab Zila Parishad Election Results 2018 will be conducted in the presence of the officers, candidates of the political parties and their representatives.

Besides, the Punjab Panchayat Samiti Election Results 2018 will also be declared today. A total of 150 Panchayat Samitis in Punjab went to polls on the same day as the Zila Parishads, on September 19 (Wednesday). A total of 58.1 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Punjab rural body polls.
