Kolkata, Jun 2: The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal transferred Superintendent of Police (SP), Purulia, SP Joy Biswas reportedly in the wake of alleged killings of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers recently. Akash Magharia has taken the charge as Purulia SP.

Earlier in the day, a 32-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was found hanging from a pole in Dabha village of Balarampur. The party has alleged TMC’s hand behind the incident. Taking to Twitter, BJP posted a video and accused the TMC of killing Dulal Kumar to make Purulia district BJP free.

Meanwhile, the Dulal’s brother has claimed that the deceased was threatened of life on May 30. “He was threatened on May 30 by bike-borne men. They asked him what party he works for, when he said BJP, they threatened to kill him,” he was quoted as saying.

The case is being probed by Crime Investigation Department (CID). “The investigation of the incident where a BJP worker was killed, handed over to Crime Investigation Department,” ANI quoted West Bengal police’ statement.

Notably, this is the second such incident that has come to light in just a week’s time. Last week, a young BJP activist Trilochon Mahato was found hanging from a tree. Following the incident BJP chief Amit Shah blamed the state government for inaction. However, TMC has rubbished all allegations calling it baseless.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha has demanded CBI probe into these deaths. While addressing a rally held in North 24 Parganas district’s Habra West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said, “The manner in which the TMC is trying to make the state opposition-free by killing people is going to be dangerous. What kind of politics is this? What type of administration is this?” The rally was organised to protest the killing of Trilochan Mahato in Balarampur in Purulia district on May 30.
