Pushkar death probe: Delhi Police question Shashi Tharoor

Speaking on the ongoing investigation into the case of Sunanda Pushkar's mysterious death, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Sunday said her husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was summoned by Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning.

New Delhi, Feb. 14: Speaking on the ongoing investigation into the case of Sunanda Pushkar’s mysterious death, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Sunday said her husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was summoned by Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning.

Bassi said clarification would be sought wherever required, adding that Tharoor’s statements would be analysed, and thereby proceedings will be made. He further said no prejudices will be made regarding the case. The SIT questioned Tharoor for over five hours on. He has earlier been questioned twice.

Earlier, Bassi had said Sunanda Pushkar’s death was not a natural one. In January last year, the Delhi Police had registered a case of murder in connection with the death of Sunanda. (Also Read: Shashi Tharoor’s jibe at Narendra Modi is more to please Congress high command) 

An AIIMS medical board had found poisoning as reason for her death following, which the police had sent her viscera samples to an FBI lab in Washington. Sunanda was found dead inside her suite at a five-star hotel in New Delhi in January 2014. The SIT is likely to file the final report in the case by February28.
