New Delhi, May 22: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appointed Virender Singh Rathore and Rajesh Lilothia as AICC secretaries for Bihar and Jitendra Baghel and Biswaranjan Mohanty as AICC secretaries for Gujarat, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a press release.
The Congress president has also appointed Rajni Patil as AICC in-charge of Himachal Pradesh with immediate effect. “The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Sushil Kumar Shinde, who will be stepping down from his responsibility as AICC general secretary in-charge of Himachal Pradesh”, it said.
Meanwhile, Nadeem Javed will be chaiman of AICC Minority Department. “The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed, who is stepping down from his responsibility as chairman, AICC Minority Department”, the press statement said.
This comes days after the Gandhi scion assigned AICC secretaries Harshwardhan Sapkal and Varsha Gaekwad to Madhya Pradesh which goes to polls later this year. The two were earlier AICC secretaries in Gujarat and have since been withdrawn from there.
As per reports, they will now assist Dipak Babaria, who is the AICC general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh.
Sapkal and Gaekwad will also work in coordination with the new state Congress chief Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was recently appointed chairman of the campaign committee for the state which goes to polls later this year.
