New Delhi, Aug 10: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Bihar and Uttar Pradesh shelter home rape and alleged that the latter doesn’t utter a word when women are raped in the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states. Speaking at a public gathering in Raipur, Rahul Gandhi said, “PM doesn’t utter a word when girls are raped in UP and Bihar…Why are women being raped in BJP ruled states?”

“It’s a question which arises not only in yours but also in the hearts of all women in India. Why are women being raped in BJP ruled states?” he asked referring to the UP and Bihar shelter home rapes, adding that whatever has happened to women in last four years (BJP’s reign in India) never happened in even 3000 years. Referring to former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif‘s conviction in the Panama papers case, the Congress president said that “investigation didn’t even begin” when the name of Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh’s son appeared in them. “When the name of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif appeared in Panama papers, he was convicted in it. In Chhattisgarh when the name of your CM’s son comes in Panama papers, investigation doesn’t even begin. This is BJP-NDA’s chowkidari,” he said.

In July, the Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress had claimed that the name of “Abhishak Singh”, which was revealed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists in the Panama Papers, was actually that of Raman Singh’s son Abhishek Singh. The party had even claimed that he had proof of it.

“Ahead of changing the spelling of his name, Abhishek was allegedly the director of a company and used to spell his name as Abhishak. He had resigned from the company before contesting Lok Sabha elections in 2014,” state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel had said in a press conference. The party had further claimed that in the documents, Abhishak Singh’s residential address mentioned in his foreign bank account was “Raman Medical Store, New Bus Stand, Ward Number 20, Vindhyawasini Ward, Kawardha”.
