Jaipur: Congress President Rahul Gandhi will kick off his two-day visit to poll-bound Rajasthan today. According to Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot, Rahul will visit Bharatpur, Dausa and Dholpur on Tuesday.
He will start his visit by addressing a public meeting in Mania. He will then visit Badi, Basedi, Bayana and Vair.
The Bharatpur administration granted permission for Gandhi’s rally and a roadshow shortly ahead of his visit. Earlier, it was reported that the administration had denied permission after the Congress failed to obtain a no-objection certificate from the owner of the rally ground near Bayana.
On Wednesday, Gandhi will address a ‘Sankalp Rally’ in Rajasthan’s Bikaner city. Pilot said the party president will rest in Mahua and will take part in two different events in Jaipur on Wednesday.
Polling in Rajasthan will be held on December 7. Counting of votes will be taken up on December 11.
Two opinion polls have predicted that the Congress is likely to unseat the BJP from power in Rajasthan – a continuation of the state’s tradition of over two decades of voting out the ruling party.
Surveys carried out by ABP News-CVoter and C fore have given the Congress almost 50 per cent of the vote share and 142 and 124-138 seats respectively in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, with its state president Sachin Pilot leading Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as the most preferred candidate for the top post.
