New Delhi, Dec 19: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the election result of Gujarat was a massive jolt for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rahul Gandhi said Congress may have lost the election but put an impressive performance. Rahul questioned the silence of PM Modi’s silence on corruption allegations in Rafael deal and BJP president Amit Shah’s son’s assets.

“Gujarat sends a clear message to PM Modi that love will conquer anger,” Rahul Gandhi said. The Congress president said PM Modi’s Gujarat Model of development has failed. “I got to know that people in Gujarat do not approve of Modi Ji’s model. The marketing and propaganda are very good but it is hollow from the inside. BJP and PM Modi could not answer our campaign,” Rahul said.

Questioning the credibility of PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP suffered a massive jolt in Gujarat. “After results, the credibility of PM Modi should be questioned. He talks about corruption a lot but remains mum on graft charges in Rafael deal and Ajay Shah case,” the Congress leader said.

Overcoming initial setbacks in a seesaw battle, the BJP on Monday bagged 99 seats, seven more than the magic figure of 92 in a House of 182. Putting up an improved performance, the Congress secured 77 seats while its allies got three more. The NCP, which fought alone, got a lone seat and Independents got two.
