Lucknow: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reacted to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra being appointed the party’s General Secretary for Eastern Uttar Pradesh and said the party required young leaders to change the politics in Uttar Pradesh. He praised Priyanka and said she was a hardworking and a dynamic leader. While Priyanka has been appointed the party’s General Secretary for Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia has been appointed Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh West. The Congress President also called Scindia a dynamic and young leader who would help usher change in the state. Gandhi said, “Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia are powerful leaders. We wanted the young leaders to change Uttar Pradesh politics.” He further said, “Mujhe personally bahut khushi ho rahi hai ki woh ab mere saath kaam karengi, woh bahut karmat hain. Stating that Congress did not have any enmity with either Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati or Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said that Congress is ready to cooperate with them wherever possible as their ultimate aim is to oust Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gandhi said, “We have no enmity with Mayawati ji and Akhilesh ji, infact I respect them a lot. We are ready to cooperate with them wherever possible. Ultimately the aim of all three of us is to defeat BJP, but yes our fight is to save Congress ideology.”

It must be noted that the news comes a few days ahead of the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 by the Election Commission of India.
