Araria/Patna/New Delhi, November 2: Congress vice -president Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that the way he is behaving, people have lost confidence in him. Gandhi also adviced Modi to start delivering the promises made during his election campaigns in 2014. He also said said since the time he has become the Prime Minister, he has neglected the root issues for which people voted him to power — change for good.

Speaking to a private news channel in Araria, Gandhi slammed Modi for thinking that one person can rule the country. He said, “Modi and his ministers need to understand that they are not running the country. The strength of people is running the country. One man cannot develop the country.” Adding more, Gandhi said, “People have a lot of expectations from Modi. Country will only develop only if works together. But Modiji lives in an illusion that he can work alone the country.” (ALSO READ: Rahul Gandhi hits out Narendra Modi: Accuses him of creating Hindu-Muslim friction for political gains)

As in the recent times, eminent writers, filmmakers and scientists have returned their awards and many have voiced their opinion on the rising intolerance in the country; Gandhi reacted to Bhartiya Janata Party’ stand on calling it ‘manufactured paper rebellion’ saying that the ruling government is not understanding the realities and naming it a protest inspired by politics. He said to India Today, “BJP and RSS have a USP to divide people and rule. Even Modiji talked of development in Bihar, but realised its not working. Soon he changed his strategy and became abusive towards Congress.” Gandhi also said that he is supporting Nitish Kumar because both have the same ideology on development.

However,  BJP fought hit back soon after Gandhi’s interview was aired on the channel. BJP spokesperson Shaina NC said, “Who is Rahul to sermonise on our PM? He has been absconding from active politics for long.” Reacting on the intolerance remarks, she added, “Congress never questioned Samajwadi Party over Dadri lynching, nor even they questioned on Kalburgi’s murder.” (ALSO READ: Rahul Gandhi addresses rally in Araria: Accuses Narendra Modi of making communal remarks, fake promises)
