New Delhi, June 19: Congress President Rahul Gandhi turned 48 today and with a year more wisdom, the party supremo is all set to begin new innings. With birthday wishes pouring in from yesterday itself, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also met Gandhi a day before in the national capital to wish him. It is being said that Gandhi will celebrate his birthday with his close friends in Delhi. Meanwhile, a slew of events are in order for the Congress President’s birthday celebrations.
As this would be Gandhi’s first birthday post being the Congress president, party units, including the Youth Congress and Congress women wing, have planned events to commemorate his birthday. Gandhi too will spend the day with Congress workers at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, various state party units would celebrate their youth leader’s birthday by contributing something important. Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar would launch the ‘Congress Ghar Ghar’ campaign in the state to rally support from each household for the 2019 Assembly elections. Tanwar said,”Tomorrow is Rahul ji’s birthday. We will hold blood donation camps, marathons and other events. From tomorrow, we will also start the ‘Congress Ghar Ghar’ campaign, where we intend to garner support from each household in Haryana.” He added,”Through this programme, we will highlight the unfulfilled promises of the ruling BJP, which was mentioned in their poll manifesto.”
While Haryana will be marking its Ghar Ghar campaign, Jaipur Congress secretary Suresh Mishra had said that special prayers will be offered at a Shiva Temple situated on New Sanganer Road to make Rahul Gandhi the next prime minister of India. Mishra had said,”On this occasion, I, along with party workers, will chant mantras and pray for Rahul Gandhi to be the prime minister in 2019. Special prayers will be offered at a Shiva Temple situated on New Sanganer Road.”
On the other hand, Congress leader and workers from Uttar Pradesh will celebrate party president Rahul Gandhi’s 48th birthday in Lucknow today. State Congress chief Raj Babbar would cut a huge cake at the state headquarters at Mall Avenue today morning to celebrate Gandhi’s birthday. “Party workers and leaders of Sewa Dal would organise hawan and pujan to pray for the long and healthy life of the Congress President and also to see him as the next Prime Minister of the country,” said UP Congress Committee spokesman Virendra Madan. Following prayers, Congress leaders would visit hospitals to distribute sweets and fruits to patients and their attendants and later also ogrnaise a grand bhandara at the state Congress office.
Apart from this, the Youth Congress has already planned a “Run for RG” to spread Rahul Gandhi’s message of fight for democracy among the common man.
