The incident took place on platform number 2 of the station around 9 PM when the boy was boarding a Churchgate-bound train along with his mother. While the mother managed to get into the train’s compartment, the child was left hanging outside the gate, the Times of India reported. Constable Sunil Napa rushed towards the boy and pulled him away to the platform safely. A few commuters also rushed to help Napa. The boy was calmed down.

The boy and his mother later headed to their home in Mira Road.

It was Napa’s quick response that saved the child’s life. Napa will be awarded a certificate of appreciation by Railways.
