New Delhi, Mar 17: The Indian Railways has decided to remove all LCD screens from Tejas and Shatabdi Express due to continuous damage of screens by the passengers. The Tejas Express was flagged off with much fanfare in July of 2017.

It is India’s first semi high-speed train and covers the journey between Mumbai and Goa. It is believed that the journey in this train is a lifelong experience. The luxury train have several modern facilities on-board like LED TV and tea/coffee vending machine.

But on its maiden journey, the train was vandalised by unidentified miscreants. The passengers travelling complained of missing headphones. Several screens were broken. Railway authorities also found that passengers had scratched, shattered or completely broken the screens which are located on the back of every seat. Few even tried to dismantle the screens so that they could carry them home.

Railway authorities hoped that damaging of public property will be stopped with time but nothing happened as passengers still continue to do it.  Seeing this, authorities decided to discontinue it and orders were issued to all zonal railways in February this year and they would soon begin acting on it and removing the LCD screens.
