Raipur, Jan 30: A biology teacher in a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Raipur allegedly delivered moral policing lectures to her class, making cringe-worthy comments about the Nirbhaya gangrape. She allegedly told students that wearing revealing clothes incite crimes like the sordid crime and that girls were themselves responsible for incidents like this.
The incident came to light when the principal Bhagwan Das Ahire got an anonymous letter, which had detailed accounts of her ugly lectures to girls. The principal said that he first thought it was a prank. But girls of Class 9 and 11 taped teacher Snehlata Shankhwar’s counselling sessions. The parents of these girls met the principal on Monday and filed a complaint.
The teacher allegedly said that girls who don’t have a beautiful face wear jeans and lipstick and expose their bodies. She said Nirbhaya’s mother should not have allowed her to go out so late at night.
“Girls have become so shameless, why did Nirbhaya go out so late at night with a boy who wasn’t her husband? It’s difficult to understand why an issue was made of this. Such incidents happen with girls in remote areas frequently,” she allegedly said, TOI reported.
She further said it was Nirbhaya’s mistake and not of the boys. She said that girls who face such incidents were cursed and it was punishment for them. She said when boys see girls “doing it”, they think that the girl will “do it” with others.
She further said that if a girl is exposing her body, boys think she is available and she wants “it” and the girl is characterless.
The principal has ordered an inquiry after the parents filed a written complaint in the matter. He has also informed senior officials of the KV Sangathan.
