Mumbai, Oct 5: In the aftermath of the stampede which killed 22 commuters in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) started a protest at Western Railway headquarters against poor rail infrastructure in Mumbai. Though the Mumbai Police denied permission to MNS rally, the party went ahead with the protest near the Churchgate railway station in South Mumbai. Zee 24 Taas hosted the live streaming of MNS protest and Raj Thackeray’s address from the rally.

In his address, Raj Thackeray claimed that Suresh Prabhu was replaced by Piyush Goyal as the Railway Minister only to push through the Bullet Train project. MNS supporters reached Churchgate railway station in large numbers. Ahead of Raj Thackeray’s arrival at the venue, a poster at the rally shows cartoon where Raj Thackeray is cracking a whip on kneeling PM Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP president Amit Shah.

After the deadly stampede on Friday, there have been sharp reactions from across the public and political spectrum on priority being accorded to the expensive Bullet Train project vis-a-vis providing basic amenities to Mumbai’s daily eight million plus railway commuters.
