Jaipur: Sachin Pilot won from Tonk constituency in Rajasthan on Tuesday defeating BJP’s only Muslim candidate in the state and Transport Minister Yoonus Khan. Meanwhile, even as votes polled in Rajasthan Assembly Election 2018 were still being counted, the Wikipedia page on the PCC chief projected him as the new Chief Minister. “14th CM of Rajasthan. It is to be noted here that the Congress has not yet declared its Chief Ministerial face and the names of Pilot and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot are doing the rounds in Congress circles.

Earlier in the day, both the leaders said a decision on who will be the Chief Minister will be taken by the party leadership and newly elected MLAs.

So far, the Congress has emerged victorious on at least 21 seats out of the total 199 Assembly seats in the state, the BJP has claimed 12 seats. It has been maintaining a strong lead since the vote count began in the morning. As per the latest trends, the party is leading on 102 seats, while the BJP is ahead on 72 seats, BSP 7 and Others 20.


The counting of votes in Rajasthan began at 8 AM on Tuesday and the Congress maintained lead against the BJP since the very beginning. The final results are likely to be out by late evening today, December 11.
