Rajasthan Assembly Election 2018 Results: Congress Will Form Government, Decision on CM Face to be Taken by Rahul Gandhi, Says Sachin Pilot

Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot exuded confidence that the party will form the government in the state. The Pradesh Congress Committee chief is leading from Tonk constituency from where he is contesting the Rajasthan Assembly Election 2018 against BJP’s lone Muslim candidate Yoonus Khan. He said the Congress was marching towards victory in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and the trend would continue in the future in the rest of India.
Till 12 PM, the Congress was leading on 95 seats in the state whereas, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on 80. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is ahead on 3 seats while, others lead on 22 seats. Notably, exit polls had predicted a defeat for the BJP in the desert state.
“People have blessed us. We should get a comfortable majority in Rajasthan,” Pilot said while speaking to reporters in Jaipur. Asserting that it is a decisive day today, Pilot recalled that exactly a year ago Gandhi became the chief of the party. “What could be a better gift to him than victory in these states,” Pilot said.
On the other hand, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot credited Gandhi for the party’s good performance in all the five states, including Rajasthan. “We are confident that the Congress will get a clear majority and will for its government in Rajasthan,” he said.
The counting of votes for 199 seats out of 200 seats in Rajasthan began at 8 AM on Tuesday. The results are expected to be out by evening.
