New Delhi: Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot hit back at Vasundhara Raje saying that such statements don’t suit a ruling party. The scathing attack came a day after Raje said that Bharat Mata is BJP’s mother while the Congress has only one mother which is Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to reporters, Pilot said, “These statements don’t suit a ruling party. They can’t shrug their responsibility by making allegations against the opposition. It’s the day of accountability.”
While addressing a rally in Bundi on Friday, Vasundhara Raje had targeted the Congress party saying that Congress leaders have a problem in eulogizing “Bharat Mata”. Raje had said that the Congress leaders only respect United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and no one else.
Further slamming Gandhi, the Rajasthan Chief Minister had said that the Congress party worked for eliminating poor but has done nothing to remove poverty.
“You all have no problem in saying Bharat Mata ki Jai but Congresspeople do have a problem in saying it. It’s because they only consider Sonia Gandhi as their mother and have no regard for Bharat Mata,” she had said.
She also underscored that the Congress had only created the divide in the society in the name of religion and caste.
Rajasthan Assembly Election 2018 will be held on December 7. The counting of votes will be held on December 11. There are 200 assembly constituencies in Rajasthan. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 163 seats and the Congress 23 seats in the 14th assembly election held in 2013. Elections in Rajasthan have been a two-party affair—the BJP and Congress.
