Jaipur: Counting of votes in Hawa Mahal, Vidhyadhar Nagar, Civil Lines, Kishan Pole, Adarsh Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Sanganer and Bagru constituencies in Rajasthan has begun. Early trends would begin to emerge around 9 AM.

Hawa Mahal seat is held by the BJP’s Surendra Pareek who defeated the Congress’ Brij Kishore Sharma in 2013. This year, the Congress has fielded Dr. Mahesh Joshi against the sitting MLA. INC’s Dr. Mahesh Joshi defeats BJP’s Surendra Pareek by margin of 9,282.

The Vidhyadhar Nagar seat has been held by Narpat Singh Rajvir of the BJP for the past decade now. This year, the Congress has fielded Sitaram Agarwal against this BJP heavyweight who would be trying his luck for a third term this year. BJP’s Narpat Singh Rajvi defeats INC’s Sitaram Agarwal by margin of 31,232.

Civil Lines would see the BJP’s Arun Chaturvedi fighting it out with the Congress’ Pratap Singh Khachariyawas. Chaturvedi is the sitting MLA who defeated the same Congress candidate in the 2013 elections. In 2008, Khachariyawas had won against another BJP candidate. INC’s Pratap Singh Khachariyawas defeats BJP’s Arun Chaturvedi by margin of 18,078.

Kishan Pole has BJP’s Kishan Lal Gupta against the Congress’ Amin Kagzi. In 2013, Ramhet Singh of the BJP had defeated the Congress candidate. The BJP has retained this seat since 2003. INC’s Amin Kagzi defeats BJP’s Mohan Lal Gupta by margin 8,770.

Adarsh Nagar has Ashok Parnami of the BJP against Rateeq Khan of the Congress. Parnami has been on the seat since 2008. INC’s Rateeq Khan defeats BJP’s Ashok Parnami by margin of 12,553.

In Malviya Nagar, the BJP has fielded Kalicharan Sarraf and the Congress has Dr. Archana Sharma. Sarraf has been on the seat since 2008 and Sharma was the candidate he had defeated in 2013. BJP’s Kalicharan Saraf defeats INC’s Dr. Archana Sharma by margin of 1,704.

Sanganer seat would see the BJP’s Ashok Lahoti fighting against the Congress’ Pushpengra Bharadwaj. BJP’s Ghanshyam Tewari had been on the seat since 2003. BJP’s Ashok Lahoty defeats INC’s Pushpendra Bhardwaj by margin of 35,405.

In Bagru (SC), Congress has fielded Ganga Devi. In 2013, BJP’s Kailash Chand had defeated the Congress’ Dr Prahlad Raghu. INC’s Ganga Devi defeats BJP’s Kailash Chand Verma by margin of 5,343.
