Rajasthan Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bharatpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, consisting of eight assembly segments in Rajasthan. Historically, the Bharatpur constituency has been an even battlefield for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress with both rivals sharing almost an equal number of victories.

The Congress has won the seat seven times, while the BJP has secured six wins Bharatpur, since the Lok Sabha constituency was carved out in 1957. However, it must be noted that the saffron party has strengthened its grip over the seat in recent times, scoring back to back victories in the 2014 as well as the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

In the 2019 general elections, BJP candidate Ranjeeta Koli defeated Congress’ Abhijeet Kumar Jatav by an impressive margin of 3,18,399 votes. Amid a 58.81% voter turnout, Koli secured 7,07,992 votes while her closest rival, Jatav, managed 3,89,593 votes, just over half of Koli’s tally.

About Bharatpur Lok Sabha Constituency

Following its thumping victories in the Assembly elections in the three Hindi heartland states late last year, the ruling BJP in Rajasthan will be looking to complete a hatrick of victories in the Bharatpur constituency while the opposition Congress is eyeing to recapture this key constituency in a bid to halt the saffron juggernaut.

The BJP has fielded former MP Ramswaroop Koli who is pitted against Congress candidate Sanjana Jatav.

Elections for the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan will be held in first two phases, April 19 (phase 1) and  April 26 (phase 2) of the general elections. Votes will be counted on June 4 and results declared on the same day, the Election Commission has announced.
