Chennai, Jan 3: Tamil actor Rajinikanth met Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi in Chennai on Wednesday. The meeting came days after he announced his entry into politics.
Rajinikanth arrived at Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram residence late Wednesday evening. He was received by DMK working president MK Stalin. The meeting between him and Karunanidhi reportedly lasted for 10 minutes. (ALSO READ – Rajinikanth Announces Political Entry, to Form New Party: Who Said What)
“He is senior most politician in the country. I respect him a lot. We have a very good friendship. I took his blessings as I am entering politics. I am feeling very happy after meeting him,”Rajinikanth told the reporters after meeting the DMK chief.
On Sunday, in a much-anticipated moment for all his fans and well-wishers, the superstar confirmed his entry into politics, adding that he will be contesting in the next state assembly elections by forming a new party.
“My political entry is definite. This is a long-pending decision. I will feel guilty if I don’t take this decision at least now. In next assembly elections, I will form a party and will contest all constituencies in Tamil Nadu,” he said while addressing a gathering at the Sri Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam.
He also called for a complete change in the democratic system, and urged for a more honest and transparent system to emerge.
However, Rajinikanth appealed to his fans to not enter into any political stint until he forms the party, and also called out to his fans to assist him in forming the structure of the party.
