Chennai, November 25: A Tamil book on Nalini Sriharan translated into English “Rajiv murder: Concealed truths and the Nalini-Priyanka meeting” was released on Thursday by MDMK founder Vaiko in Chennai. Nalini is a convict serving life term in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The book is compiled and written by PA Egalaivan.

Nalini has already served 25 years in prison and is kept in high security at the Vellore central jail. In the book ,she has discussed Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination and the events after it. Also, she has described the meeting with Priyanka Gandhi at Vellore prison in 2008.

Vaiko also said that the book should be compiled into other languages and should reach out to Tamil people wherever they live. Vaiko said that the book has all elements to be made into a movie and if a movie is made it will get international acclaim.

Nalini was arrested on June 14, 1991, in connection with the assassination of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by an LTTE suicide bomber on May 21, 1991, during an election rally at near Sriperumbudur.Nalini and her husband were among the four awarded death sentence out of 26 involved in the assassination by the  Apex Court.In 2000, the Tamil Nadu Governor commuted Nalini’s sentence to life.
