Meerut, Aug 11: Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday. Taking a potshot at Congress President’s hug to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament, he said that “People love PM Modi, so he (Rahul Gandhi) also tried to express his love in the Parliament & started a chipko movement there”.

Addressing a gathering in Meerut, Singh said, “President of party who could not maintain the dignity of the Parliament, dreams to become the Prime Minister of the country. People love PM Modi, so he (Rahul Gandhi) also tried to express his love in the Parliament & started a chipko movement there.”

This is not the first time that Rajnath Singh has taken a dig at Rahul Gandhi. Earlier on July 20, after the Congress President hugged PM Modi in Lok Sabha which left Parliamentarians surprised, he had said, “Rahul Gandhi started ‘chipko andolan’ in Lok Sabha.”

During the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, during his nearly 15-minute stormy speech, attacked Prime Minister Modi-led NDA government on several fronts including demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), unemployment and Rafale deal.
